Also known as: OGTT, Glucose Tolerance Test, GTT

CPT 84479Quest 1759LabCorp 010389
When to Seek Prompt Care

No common urgent flag from this test alone.

What It Measures

This test checks how well your body takes sugar from your blood. It looks at how sugar moves into your muscles and fat. You will drink a sweet liquid first. Then, the test shows how your body deals with that sugar over several hours.

Why It's Ordered

Doctors often order this test to look for or diagnose prediabetes and diabetes. They use it when other blood sugar tests are high, but not high enough to say for sure that you have diabetes.

Reference Range

Normal value ranges vary by lab, and interpretation can depend on whether you are pregnant or have other health conditions.
