Infectious Disease
Also known as: CMV IgM
No common urgent flag from this test alone. However, if you have symptoms like a high fever, severe fatigue, or other concerning signs, contact your clinician for advice.
This test finds special proteins in your blood. They are called IgM antibodies. Your body makes these antibodies when you have a new infection. This infection is called cytomegalovirus, or CMV.
Your doctor orders this test to check for a new CMV infection. This is especially true if you have symptoms that might be from CMV. It is also done if you are pregnant or have a weak immune system.
Reference ranges for CMV IgM can vary significantly between different laboratories. Your doctor will interpret your results based on the specific lab's ranges and your overall health.
