Stool / GI
Also known as: C. diff, C. difficile, Clostridium difficile
Seek urgent medical care if you experience severe abdominal pain, fever, or signs of severe dehydration (like extreme thirst, infrequent urination, or dizziness).
This test looks at your poop. It checks for a germ called C. diff. It also looks for poisons this germ makes. This helps your doctor see if C. diff is causing your stomach and intestine problems.
Your doctor might order this test if you have diarrhea that won't go away. This is especially true if you recently took antibiotics. You might also have belly pain, feel sick to your stomach, or have a fever. These signs can mean you have a C. diff infection.
Reference ranges can vary by laboratory and may depend on factors like age and health status. Always discuss your specific results with your healthcare provider.
