This test checks your blood for special fighters called autoantibodies. These fighters accidentally attack the DNA inside your healthy cells.
Doctors often order this test to help find out if someone has lupus. They also use it to check how active the lupus is. This test can also show if lupus is affecting the kidneys in people who already have the disease.
A very low level is typically considered negative, but exact reference ranges vary by lab.
